8 Hot Tips Before Entrusting Your Car to a Transport Company

When you think about transporting a vehicle, most people's immediate perception is that it is either a fleet of cars being shipped to a main dealer or that they are incredibly valuable vehicles being delivered to their multimillionaire's luxury villa in some exotic and far away destination. Whilst this may be the case on occasions, more frequently than not, you will find that it is normal every day run of the mill vehicles that are transported to many different destinations throughout the UK as well as mainland Europe. There are a number of ways in which you can transport your vehicle, you can hire a driver to take it there, you can drive it yourself, you can ship it in a single car container or alternatively you can have it shipped out in a multi-vehicle carrier. Before committing yourself to one company 1) Shop around for prices, never settle for the first quote, there are numerous companies offering car shipping services to all parts of the world, especially to mainland Europe and the most popular countries. 2) Be suspicious if a quote is too cheap in comparison to the rest, after a few quotes, you should start seeing an average price, remember, cheap can become expensive 3) Carry out due diligence on the company you are about to hand your keys to, make sure that they are experienced and apt for the job. 4) Make sure they are fully compliant with regards to insurances; especially as to how and what does their insurance cover you for should the unthinkable happen. 5) If you will be using an enclosed container make sure you inspect it as well as any multi-vehicle containers. 6) Have a look around their fleet of vehicles, seeing how they look after their own will give you some indication as to how they will look after yours! 7) If possible, check what other types of cars they are transporting at the same time as yours. 8) Make sure you have a schedule for arrival of your vehicle as well as a convenient meeting point for delivery. It is all too easy to agree to hand your vehicle over to a shipping agent and then suddenly realise that you haven't asked some of the most basic questions. On the subject of price, it is very tempting to save money, after all, if you are transporting your car due to relocating to a new country, you would have already spent enough money on other things and being able to save some in getting your favourite car there may come as a pleasant surprise, however, you need to ask yourself as to why are they so cheap and make sure they haven't cut corners which could end up costing you.
